Alia Shawkat, born April 18, 1989, in Riverside California (United States) is among the Television's most successful and well-known actresses. Maeby, the Fox character in Arrested Development that she played earned her TV Land Future Classic Award. In the movie Whip It, she starred with Ellen Page. Shawkat was Hannah in the film from 2001 until 2004 on State of Grace. Shawkat played Maeby Funke in Arrested Development from 2003 until 2018. Her role was frequently singled out in the series review. Brian M. Palmer noted that she was among the brightest lights in a world dominated by the other lights. Scott Weinberg, of eFilmCritic, described her as hilarious. In a recent interview with The A.V. Shawkat noted in 2010 in The A.V. Club many of the memorable experiences she had as an actor happened on Arrested's set. Mitch Hurwitz had been as a father to her. In some ways, it was great to be around because I feel that my understanding of comedy could develop really well over this period of time. In 2009 Shawkat appeared as a character in Whip It co-star Har Mar Superstar's music video, Tall Boy which also featured Eva Mendes and Eric Wareheim. Shawkat Har Mar, Ellen Page and Whip it co-stars produced and wrote a series for HBO called Stitch N Bitch in October 2009. The Hollywood Reporter claims that The show shows two incredibly hipster girl who move across the Brooklyn's Williamsburg and eventually Los Angeles Silver Lake to perform as artists of every kind. Alice Braga also portrayed the part as Teresa Mendoza in the crime drama-thriller television series Queen of the South (2016-2021). Her role earned her a great deal of praise in her career.

The success of Firefly is partly due to the fact she was the lead actress in Whedon's subsequent TV series, Firefly. Summer Glau was very good at handling the complex role of River Tam. In the role of Tam she was required to participate in government research where she was made to become an ideal assassin.
