Ani Difranco

Angela Maria Ani DiFranco was born in Canada. She is American. She has released more than 20 studio albums. DiFranco categorizes her music as folk-rock or alternative. But it includes influences like punk, hip-hop, and jazz. Ani DiFranco, widely regarded as the feminist's icon, and Grammy-winning artist is considered to be the first founder of DIY music. It was one of the first artists to start their own labels in the year 90. DiFranco was the child of Elizabeth (Ross), and Dante Americo DiFranco. They began their relationship in their school, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Her mother is from Montreal and her father has Italian descent. DiFranco apologized in 2013 when it was reported that she planned to host a three day workshop at a Louisiana slave plantation. A lot of people (including us) were not affected by her decision to cancel. DiFranco offered a second apology a few days afterwards. While she's been referred to for her role as the Little Folksinger, her music has embraced many styles and collaborations that range across the spectrum from Pete Seeger to Chuck D to Prince. The singer lives in New Orleans. Ani DiFranco is with Kristen Ford. By 14 she was writing her own songs. They performed at coffeehouses, bars, and in the streets throughout her teenage years.
