With her personal highlights so this year, such as being hand-picked by Snoop Dogg to accompany him on stage during the YouTube Brandcast in May 2013 Niykee has kept up an unstoppable songwriting schedule despite the ups and downs of recent years. The singer-songwriter is attracted to Niykee, who is always looking at latest beats. A lot of them inspire music ideas. Within five seconds, I know whether a track is good or not. I then get an idea for an original song, and start writing it immediately. I'll sit out on my front porch and play my guitar, and then the lyrics appear and it's usually all done in under thirty minutes. Niykee states that, as she grows as a lyricist, the painful memories of her childhood are an source of inspiration. "Even in the absence of writing about my own life in the open it is the loss of my sister and my painful childhood are incorporated into my music," she says. This shapes my music and gives it a deeper significance, something I consider extremely important. I would like to be able listen to my music in the next 20 years and feel proud of what I have to say.
