Prior to beginning her social media career in 2019, she shared dance-related videos on TikTok. She was a competitive dancer for more than 10 years. She quickly amassed a large following and was then one of the top creators on the platform in March 2020 , until she was eclipsed by Khaby Lame in July 2022.D'Amelio made her debut in feature films with an appearance as a voice actor in the 2020 animated film StarDog and TurboCat. She has been featured in numerous Hulu shows, including the D'Amelio series, TurboCat as well as Snap Original's Charli vs. Dixie. D'Amelio was a contestant in the 2022 Dancing with the Stars celebrity competition. She would be crowned alongside Mark Ballas in the thirty first season. She is the first person on TikTok to reach 100 million and 50 million users.
